We had some rain in the night and discovered that the escape hatch over our bed has some leaks in the 14 year old fiberglass canopy. I was able to get online enough to find out I can get a new canopy, but not with enough bandwidth to make a blog post. Otherwise, we had a lovely evening and left well-rested in the morning.
Our travels today took us through the heart of the California Redwood forest. We stopped for lunch in Crescent City and then bade farewell to California and traveled up the breathtaking southern Oregon coast on US101. Tonight we are settled in at the Bandon by the Sea RV park in Bandon, OR. The lady who checked us in was very accommodating. We set up in site #3 with all the comforts of home, and now we are watching Sunday Night Football.
Since the weather in the Willamette Valley, and more specifically in Dallas, has been cold and icy today, we are not sure whether we will leave tomorrow or wait one more day for the thaw. I am not wild about the idea of driving Red Ryder and Topper through mountain passes that are covered with snow, and they were earlier today. So, here we sit, our fate in the hands of God and the bevy of meteorologists who are on top of this storm.
Meantime, my beautiful bride got some photos on our drive.
The Pacific Ocean was not so pacific today.
Heading into the California Redwoods
Stop the car. There's a pot of gold in that tree!
We saw a lot of this on our drive. US101 has taken a hit with the El Nino rains.
It was a lovely drive, and we are grateful that we got to see such a beautiful part of God's creation. Stay tuned. Maybe I will have good wi-fi again tomorrow.
